Tribe, if you desire to live an unapologetic life of abundance and success, this episode is for you.
Have you ever felt burned out at your job? Do you know what it’s like to run out of passion for your work? If so, you’re not alone! And there’s good news: You can take control of your life and start doing work that truly lights you up.
And for all of the mammas reading — do you make time to take care of yourself? In our busy lives as healthcare workers and moms, it can be challenging to make time for self-care. But even something as simple as a little morning and evening skincare routine can make a whole world of difference.
Let’s face it: As women, we often fall into the same pattern of working to secure financial futures for our children. But in the process, we let our own dreams and ambitions fall to the wayside. We might start out ambitious and driven, but we don’t always follow through on our goals.
But there’s good news: My fabulous guest Cayla Craft and I are here today to tell you that you can shamelessly follow your dreams, achieve financial freedom, and secure a powerful and positive legacy for your children! Yes, it is possible to have it all — and no one knows better than Cayla.
Cayla Craft is a mother of three, self-made millionaire, and brilliant businesswoman. She’s constantly striving to build her family’s financial future, and she’s pursuing her own ambitions as a powerful business coach, too. She’s passionate about helping others achieve financial freedom, and I’m so excited to have her here on the Millennial Doc podcast to share her wisdom with us today. So, without any further ado, let’s get started!
Who Is Cayla Craft?
As a child, Cayla knew what it meant to have financial instability in the home. Her mother declared bankruptcy when Cayla was seven years old, and after that, they moved from house to house, never having quite enough money to make ends meet. Cayla knew she wanted to create complete financial freedom for herself and her family one day, so she set out to do just that.
However, her mindset was still stuck in a place of scarcity and lack. In high school, Cayla chose to attend a school with a health career academy simply because she’d heard that she could have complete job security as a nurse. She didn’t start out with a passion for healthcare. Instead, she chose a career path based on her desire to create stability in her life.
And eventually, that decision caught up with her. We’ll talk more about this in a minute, but when Cayla found that healthcare no longer lit her up inside, she knew it was time for a change. That’s when Cayla launched Mommy Millionaire.
Mommy Millionaire is a seven-figure business that Cayla has grown from the ground up. Through the Mommy Millionaire podcast, Mastermind, Academy, and coaching programs, Cayla is impacting thousands of women and empowering them to step into their full power and shamelessly pursue their dreams. Cayla’s goal is to help one million women make one million dollars, and she is well on her way!
Cayla understands the power of a strong abundance mindset. She has the practical tips and strategies you need to build a successful business, but she also has practical advice for simple things like skincare that are essential for working mammas! I’m so excited to have her on as my very first guest here on the Millennial Doc podcast, and I truly think you’ll love her as much as I do!
Cayla’s Story: Do What Lights You Up
As I mentioned earlier, Cayla spent the first few years of her professional career working as a nurse. While she did have a passion for helping others, she didn’t go into nursing for the opportunity to serve — she desired the job security and opportunity for financial stability. However, Cayla eventually recognized that job security was not enough to fuel her in the long-run:
“I was a charge nurse when I was 23, and I … was managing and leading all these nurses that were much older than me. And I looked at them, and I thought, ‘They’re so unhappy. None of them want to be here. All of them want to be somewhere else.’ And I thought, ‘That’s going to be me unless something changes.’” – Cayla Craft
Have you ever been there? Have you realized that you’re getting burned out and started worrying about your future? It happens to so many people — we take jobs we’re not necessarily passionate about just to pay the bills, but we end up feeling unhappy and unfulfilled.
But tribe, I want to encourage you: It is never too late to reinvent yourself and flip that script. You can change the course of your life toward your passions. Cayla did!
Cayla realized that while she genuinely enjoyed the aspect of her job that allowed her to serve patients, ER nursing would not allow her to genuinely make lasting changes in people’s lives. So, she decided to start coaching. And since making that decision, she has created more financial abundance for her family than she could possibly have dreamed of! She has investments in network marketing and real estate, and she is striving every day to leave a powerful legacy for her children.
“I never want to have to tell them, ‘No,’ and not in … [a] spoiled-brat way, but I always want to give them every opportunity. And I actually have this goal to give each of them an apartment complex by the time they’re 18 so that way they can decide if they want to be an entrepreneur, if they want to go to college, or whatever they want to do — they have a headstart in life. And I want that to be generational … because I just feel like when you don’t have to worry about money you can get so much more impact done, right?” – Cayla Craft
If you want to create a lasting legacy of abundance and financial freedom for your children and the generations to come, Cayla and I want you to know that it is possible. And entrepreneurship might be the right way for you to do that! Ask yourself what lights you up, and pursue that with all of your energy. You’ll be amazed at the massive impact you can make!
Cash Flow: What Does It Mean?
One of Cayla’s favorite terms is “cash flow,” but what does that really mean? I was excited to ask her about cash flow and how we can all create more of it, and she did not disappoint!
Cash flow is essentially the amount of money coming into your accounts and the amount leaving them. You earn cash flow by making money, but you can also invest some of the money you earn. And if you receive a return on that investment, you have more cash flow.
“So the reason why it’s important to have cash flow [is]: … When you get to invest in things, let’s say like a startup company … I know there’s a big risk in that, right? So I know if I’m investing $100,000 into that company, there’s a good chance I’m never going to see that money again, but there’s also a good chance we could … make $500,000 off that deal. … When you have an amazing amount of cash flow coming in on the regular, you’re able to take a higher risk.” – Cayla Craft
It makes sense, right? If you have more money coming in, you’re able to invest more money without worrying about whether you’ll have enough to pay your own bills. That’s why cash flow is so important — the more you have, the more you can invest, and the more cash flow you’ll receive. It’s this upward cycle that can really fuel your momentum as a business investor.
Cayla also strongly recommended that you have multiple streams of income:
“I believe you should always have different types of cash flow too. … Constantly be looking at, ‘What assets can I invest in right now to create more cash flow?’ Network marketing is an asset. Real estate is an asset — but not your personal home. … It’s not an asset because that doesn’t create cash flow for you.” – Cayla Craft
Do you have multiple sources of cash flow? If not, it may be time to consider investing. Can you work in real estate on the side while you run your business? Can you invest in a network marketing company? And if you have questions about network marketing, feel free to reach out and let me know! You can email me questions about the best network marketing companies, and I’d be happy to help!
The more you can diversify your assets, the more cash flow you can create!
Health Tips for the Working Mamma!
Before I let Cayla go, I had to ask her for her best skincare tips! Her number one suggestion? Water!
“I think water is super important. … I am a freak about washing my face and touching my face. … I used to be really into picking my face and touching my face, and … I had really bad acne, so [now] I do not touch my face.” – Cayla Craft
Keeping your face clean and dirt-free is the most important thing you can do to keep your skin healthy! Don’t touch your face during the day — you’ll add all kinds of oil and dirt that you don’t want in your pores.
Speaking of pores, Cayla recommends using cold water when you wash your face. Warm water tends to open up those pores and let in dirt and other things, but cold water will allow you to cleanse your skin without letting in all that bad stuff from the outside! I recommend using a gentle cleanser — I like using an acne cleanser from Cetaphil — to keep your face clean and healthy!
And by the way, make sure to wash your face in the morning and at night — you definitely don’t want to go to bed with makeup on! I recommend using a gentle makeup remover — I like Neutrogena’s — and this oil-free makeup remover to take off eye makeup. Make sure to use gentle cleansers here — you don’t want to damage your skin — but keeping your skin clean will help you feel healthy and look radiant!
The other thing Cayla likes to do every day is reduce inflammation:
“I always put on these gel patches underneath my eyes to take away the puffiness and then on my way to work in the morning I use this ice roller on my face to decrease inflammation. And then when I get home I also put ice packs on my face … to make sure that the inflammation is down.” – Cayla Craft
Do you ever get puffy eyes or any red inflammation on your face — especially after a workout? Cold packs will definitely help you keep inflammation down, however, it is only a temporary fix.
